Welcome to my June Favourites – that is to say, a few select items (mainly beauty) that I have enjoyed throughly throughout the past month or so!
Peonies: Not going to lie, this is probably going to be one of the many posts that feature peonies. As basic-white-girl-wants-to-be-Blair-Waldorf as it is, peonies are my absolute favourite flower. They are so nice for a nice vase in your home, and they are my current fav pick for a wedding bouquet. And who can go wrong with a little more Blair in their life?
Milani Cosmetics Amore Mattalics Lip Cream: Metal. Liquid. Lipstick. I think that says it all, no? I have been loving these lippies as of late! I have two shades, ‘Chromatic Addict’ and ‘Matterialistic’ and I love them both. They aren’t as metallic as you would think they would be, so in my opinion they are still really wearable. Unfortunately they seem impossible to get your hands on in the UK or in Canada, but if you are able to order from the Milani website, there’s always that!
Edwardian Ladies Diary: This cute little 2016 diary from Marks and Spencer is the perfect thing for throwing into your purse! I have a way bigger event/day planner but it’s so large and heavy it never leaves the house, so this is a great alternative for the dates that I need to jot down on the go! And it’s adorable, so there’s that.
H&M Earrings: I bought these earrings a year ago for a special event and never really wore them again until now. They are pretty heavy, unfortunately, so I find I can only wear them for a few hours, but they are gorgeous and the epitome of summer. You can wear a simple summer dress and really dress it up with these earrings and a nice pair of shoes. It doesn’t hurt that I’m also currently in love with pale blue and pale pink at the moment!
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte: This is in the shade “01 Nude Beige”, but despite its name it’s actually a very pale pink. Regardless, I love it, and it’s perfect for throwing on and running out the door. It’s creamy, pigmented, and easy to apply. It isn’t terribly long lasting, but its ease of application makes up for that.
& Other Stories Bracelet: I love & Other Stories and since I have to travel to London to shop there I always try to pick up a little something. I ended up with this dainty little bracelet and I love it! I always want to wear bracelets but seldom can. At & Other Stories they do sizing in their bracelets starting at XS, which is amazing news for me and my child-like hands!
Becca Champagne Glow Palette: I received this palette for Christmas, and have used it every single day since. Okay, to be honest it’s not really the palette I love, it’s the highlight in the shade “Pearl” that does it for me. I can’t really use the other two shades in the palette on my face, so I use them just on my eyes, which is nice too!
My Burberry Perfume: Before this, I smelled every single fragrance at Sephora (while still living in Canada) for months and couldn’t decide on a new fragrance. Cut to three months later, I’m working at Burberry here in the UK – I smell this on my training day and instantly fall in love. It claims to smell like “London after the rain”, and I don’t know about that, but with Sweet Pea, Bergamot, Geranium, and more it does smell deliciously floral (but NOT your grandma’s floral!). Also, let’s talk about the bottle, shall we? The one pictured was the Holiday bottle, and there are gold sparkles in it. Like a freaking snowglobe! And if you look closely at the bottom, you can see my name is engraved in it. For other holidays they do this engraving, so check it out if you’re looking for a present for someone, because it’s gorgeous! The non sparkly bottle is nice, too, so don’t be too sad if you missed out on the glitter!
